Equal Opportunity Office
The Equal Opportunity Office has existed since 1986. The office promotes
equal opportunity and is particularly interested in the concerns of
women working at the University.
One of the office's main goals is to increase the number of women in
academic positions and to focus on equal opportunity for women in all
structural matters. The office makes sure that University regulations,
which give preference to qualified women, are adhered to until
gender-balance has been achieved.
The Equal Opportunity Office supports the Presidium and the equal
opportunity commissioner - to whom the office is responsible - in
various equal opportunity matters.
By presidential decree, the former Equal Opportunity Office/Office for the Promotion of Women (Names G - F) has been renamed the Equal Opportunity Office, effective immediately. The office is administratively responsible to the vice president (Prof. Dr. Mielke). The elected equal opportunity commissioner of Universität Hamburg (Frau Prof. Ramminger) and her staff will oversee the new office.
The office staff provide information about equal opportunity laws relevant to universities as well as about current research projects on women and gender.
The Equal Opportunity Office is committed to integrating gender issues and gender equality in all areas of the University. In the future, the office will tackle diversity issues more intensively.
