The president, the vice presidents and the Kanzlerin comprise the Presidium.
The Presidium oversees University operations. It coordinates and directs cross-faculty activities. It sets achievement goals with the Ministry of Education and Research and draws up, among other things, economic plans. It makes proposals for the University's Structure and Development Plan, the Plan's continued implementation and the principles by which the University is equipped and resources distributed.
The Presidium conducts searches for professors and junior professors. It is responsible for ensuring that the responsible offices fulfill the University's committment to equal opportunity. It oversees the cooperation of the University's various institutions and members and is responsible for maintaining a balance among them. Furthermore, it is responsible for all activities which have not been explicitly relegated by the Hamburg Higher Education Law to other authorities (HmbHG).
